Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a pathological condition characterized by absolute or relative disruption of myocardial blood supply due to damage to the coronary arteries of the heart.

At the basis of coronary heart disease is a violation of blood flow in the coronary vessels, which leads to insufficient blood supply to the heart muscle. Mostly coronary heart disease is caused by atherosclerosis.

Acute myocardial infarction is a type of coronary heart disease. Every year in Ukraine there are more than 40 thousand cases of acute myocardial infarction, and a total of about 9 million patients suffer from coronary heart disease.
